Sounding Peace is a sonic memorial to peace and peacekeeping, created in collaboration with veterans of the British armed forces and their families. Drawing on their lived experiences, the work asks: What is peace? What does it sound like?
Using AI-assisted transcription and voice synthesis, personal testimonies have been transformed into a haunting and immersive sound environment. Voices – anonymous yet intimate – surround the listener within a virtual geodesic dome, accompanied by music and recordings from war memorials and places of remembrance.
This innovative artwork offers a space for reflection on the meaning of peace in our own time, and on the role of those who serve in its name.
